Hey there, TWibe! The past few days have felt a little strange, haven’t they? No tournament to frazzle over (well, unless you were one of the five people keeping up with Budapest, Bastad, and Newport), no early wake-up calls, no Suicide Pools to monitor. Luckily, things seem to be back to (ab)normal now that the Davis Cup quarterfinals are underway; feel free to offer your predictions for the ties here, if you haven’t already in Pete’s earlier posts.
The World Cup final looms, as well. Who are you guys pulling for? I’m guessing the bulk of you are supporting Spain?
Now, a couple of business matters to attend to:
1) Here’s your final Wimbledon ’10 Suicide Pool update from TalkAboutTennis.com’s Mariya:
Both Naughty T and the other winner, bluereggie, beat the draw on the women’s side with Serena’s win. There were 6 winners in the Men’s pool, all of whom beat the draw. Unfortunately, none were from TW.
But 38 people ran out of picks after the semifinals because of Federer’s loss. The four TWibes(wo)men who advanced furthest were among them. Here are their picks through the tournament:

2) Next up is a special “save the date” message from GVGirl. Get your calendars out, folks. Her US Open tailgate is taking place Saturday, September 4th, from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. As always, meet by the Unisphere. This announcement will also appear on both our TW Facebook group, TennisWorld > Real World, and the TAT website. More details to come in early August. (Is it really almost time for the Open? Where has the year gone?!)
In this week’s Deuce Club, I wanted to take us far, far away from the topic of tennis, since we’ve OD’ed on it over the last several weeks. So how ’bout we bring back the YouTube series? I can’t think of a more perfect time.
We did our first installment of the series a year ago, with the TW Music Festival. That went over so well that we followed up on it with a post on favorite tennis videos and another on tennis players’ theme songs.
The idea behind today’s installment comes from Rosangel, who mentioned it during the TW Music Festival. She suggested we name our favorite dancefloor hits and have a TW Dance Party! What a great idea – and right up my alley. I’m constantly dancing … at home, in the car, at the grocery store. I even found myself boogying down at Dick’s Sporting Goods last week (to be fair, my best friend was doing it too).
So let’s jump right in and get this party started, yeah? Name your favorite dance hits and include YouTube video links (that’s the point of the YouTube series, after all). Using TinyURL is appreciated but not necessary.
