Querrey falls to Wawrinka, Verdasco defeats Ferrer




Two of the men’s fourth-round matches in the top half of the draw have been decided in five-setters, with Stanislas Wawrinka defeating Sam Querrey 7-6(9), 6-7(5), 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 and Fernando Verdasco rebounding to overcome David Ferrer 5-7, 6-7(8), 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(4) with a running forehand winner over the side of the net on match point.

 

Wawrinka will next meet Mikhail Youzhny, who defeated Tommy Robredo 7-5, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. Verdasco will take on fellow Spanish left-hander and top seed Rafael Nadal, who defeated another Spanish lefy, Feliciano Lopez, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.
